Ten companies will invest in the Palu special economic zone (KEK Palu) in Central Sulawesi and are expected to recruit about 1,000 workers.

Andi Mulhanan Tombolotutu, president director of PT Bangun Palu Sulawesi Tengah (BPS), the management of KEK Palu, said the 10 companies were PT Sofie Agro (coconut processing company from India), PT PT Agro Sulteng (agroindustry), PT Indo World (coconut processing from Thailand), PT Asbuton Jaya Abadi (asphalt), PT Abana Gema Mentari (nickel smelter), PT Multi Monodon Indonesia Group (fishery), PT Tirta Lestari Raymond (water management), PT Nurfaida Jaya Angkasa (fuel), PT Tunas Kreasi Perkasa Logistik (logistics), and PT Palu Energi Indonesia (electricity).

“They are foreign and domestic companies,” Tombolotutu said on Wednesday.

Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola asked BPS to move fast in preparing the supporting infrastructure to allow for immediate activities in KEK Palu.

“I want to see companies break ground before May 2017,” said Longki.

Tombolotutu said by opening businesses in KEK Palu, the businesspeople could receive fiscal and non-fiscal facilities like customs exemption for importing machinery, goods, as well as  income tax exemption.
