The spirit of “Indonesia Incorporated” has been strengthened by the Public Works and Housing Ministry’s collaboration with the Tourism Ministry in developing tourism infrastructure.
Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono met with World Bank director for Indonesia Rodrigo A. Chavez to discuss the new partnership programs in housing and development of tourism areas.
The first program will increase the accessibility of affordable housing for low-income families.
The World Bank has provided a $450 million loan for the National Affordable Housing Project.
“The program will start in July 2017 and will run until 2020, targeting around 1.2 million families,” Basuki said in Jakarta on Tuesday (07/06).
The infrastructure development program will run in three strategic locations: the Lake Toba area in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java and Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara.
“The program starts in August and will take 12 months. We will build roads, homestays, and clean water and sanitation facilities,” Basuki said.
The World Bank’s loan for the 60-months project is $200 million.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said everything has been running as planned.
